  2. This is the Info-ZIP file ``WHERE,'' last updated on 1 March 2005.
  3. __________________________________________________________________________
  4. This file is out of date. We plan to update the structure of the ftp
  5. site shortly and should be updating this file as soon as that's done.
  6. The latest version of this file can be found online at:
  7. ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/doc/WHERE
  8. Note that some ftp sites may not yet have the latest versions of Zip
  9. and UnZip when you read this. The latest versions always appear in
  10. ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/ (and subdirectories thereof) first,
  11. except for encryption binaries, which always appear in
  12. ftp://ftp.icce.rug.nl/infozip/ (and subdirectories) first.
  13. IF YOU FIND AN ERROR: please let us know! We don't have time to
  14. check each and every site personally (or even collectively), so any
  15. number of the sites listed below may have moved or disappeared en-
  16. tirely. E-mail to Zip-Bugs@lists.wku.edu and we'll update this file.
  17. __________________________________________________________________________
  18. Info-ZIP's home WWW site is listed on Yahoo and is at:
  19. ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/Info-ZIP.html (master version)
  20. http://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/ (master version)
  21. http://www.info-zip.org/
  22. Note that the old sites at http://www.cdrom.com/pub/infozip/ and
  23. http://www.freesoftware.com/pub/infozip are PERMANENTLY BROKEN. They
  24. cannot be updated or removed, apparently.
  25. The Zip and UnZip pages have links to most known mirror sites carrying our
  26. source and/or binary distributions, and they generally are more up-to-date
  27. and have better information than what you are reading:
  28. ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/Zip.html
  29. ftp://ftp.info-zip.org/pub/infozip/UnZip.html
  30. The related zlib package by Info-ZIP's Jean-loup Gailly and Mark Adler is at:
  31. http://www.zlib.net/
  32. Source-code archives for Info-ZIP's portable Zip, UnZip, and related
  33. utilities:

  35. zip231.tar.Z ditto, compress'd tar format
  36. zip11.zip Zip 1.1 (shrinking, implosion; compatible w. PKUNZIP 1.1)
  37. zip11.tar.Z ditto, compress'd tar format
  38. unzip552.zip UnZip 5.52 (all methods[*]; unzip/funzip/unzipsfx/zipgrep)
  39. unzip552.tar.gz ditto, gzip'd tar format

  42. zcrypt29.zip encryption support for Zip 2.3[**]
  43. zcrypt10.zip encryption support for Zip 1.1
  44. MacZip106src.zip contains all the GUI stuff and the project files to build
  45. the MacZip main-app. To build MacZip successfully, both
  46. the Zip 2.31 and UnZip 5.52 sources are required, too.
  47. wiz502.zip WiZ 5.02, Windows 9x/NT GUI front-end for Info-ZIP DLLs
  48. wiz502+dlls.zip WiZ 5.02, Windows 9x/NT GUI front-end plus DLL sources
  49. [*] Unreducing is disabled by default, but is available as add-on.
  50. As of July 2004, Unisys's LZW patent was expired worldwide, and
  51. unshrinking is turned on by default since the release of UnZip 5.52.
  52. See UnZip's INSTALL file for details.
  53. [**] As of January 2000, US export regulations were amended to allow export
  54. of free encryption source code from the US. As of June 2002, these
  55. regulations were further relaxed to allow export of encryption binaries
  56. associated with free encryption source code. The Zip 2.31, UnZip 5.52
  57. and Wiz 5.02 archives now include full crypto source code. As of the
  58. Zip 2.31 release, all official binaries include encryption support; the
  59. former "zcr" archives ceased to exist.
  60. (Note that restrictions may still exist in other countries, of course.)
  61. Executables archives (and related files) for Info-ZIP's software; not all
  62. of these will be immediately available due to lack of access to appropriate
  63. systems on the part of Info-ZIP members.
