]> Atheros Powerline Class Library Atheros Communications, Ocala FL USA Charles Maier NOV 2009 plc-utils-2.1.2 Atheros Communications, Ocala FL USA, offers the Atheros Application Development Package to customers free of charge. The package contains C++ Language source code, GNU makefiles and Microsoft Visual Studio solution files that may be used to create useful end-user, HomePlug AV specific, powerline applications having graphical user interfaces. This package may not be suitable for embedded applications due to high overheads and compiled image sizes. Unlike the Atheros Linux Toolkit, this package implements a software abstraction layer that encapsulates almost all platform specific, ISO Layer 2 networking details. Like the Atheros Linux Toolkit, it requires WinPcap to perform raw Ethernet I/O on Microsoft Windows but runs natively on Linux and Mac OSX. New users should read the entire first chapter of this document before trying to use the package because it will answer many questions about installation, organization, content and application. Readers familiar with object oriented programming in C++, basic ISO Layer 2 networking concepts, HomePlug AV powerline networking and the Atheros Firmware Technical Reference Manual will find the remaining chanpters helpful when developing application. HomePlug AV is a registered trademark of the HomePlug Powerline Aliance. Linux is a trademark of Linus Tovalds. Windows is a registered trademark of Microsoft Communications.
